North Star Academy follows the Michigan Department of Education’s Michigan Merit Curriculum. In order for a student to earn a North Star Academy High School Diploma they must meet the following criteria:
Credit Requirements – 20
Mathematics 4.0 credits
Math I – Algebra 1 / Geo
Math II – Algebra 1/Geo
Math III – Algebra II / Geo
Sr. Math Class - Student Choice
English 4.0 credits
Literacy I
Literacy II
Literacy III
Literacy IV
Science 4.0 credits
Biology
Chemistry or Physics
Science Electives
Social Studies 3.0 credits
Civics
Economics
World History/Geography
U.S. History / Geography
Art - 1.0 credit
Health - .5 credit
Physical Education - .5 credit
Senior Exploratory - 1.0 credit (must pass with a ‘C’ or above)
Electives- 2.0 credits
Participate in an Online Learning Experience
400 Hours of Service in the Community (pro-rated by enrollment year)
Pass Project Term Segment Each Year Enrolled at NSA
